Play Kenya’s PGA Baobab Golf Course

A par 72, 18-hole championship course set high on the ridge with dramatic coastal views, this is truly one of the finest courses in Africa.

About the PGA Baobab Course

  • The par 72, 6,586 yard championship course at Vipingo Ridge has been designed by former Kenya Open winner David Jones.

The only PGA accredited golf course in Africa and host venue for the Magical Kenya Ladies Open on the European Tour offers dramatic coastal views from the iconic clubhouse overlooking the 9th and 18th holes.

The 18 hole championships golf course is surrounded by natural bush landscapes which come in to play on many of the holes.

A system of inter-connected lakes and streams meanders through the golf course which provides golfers an interesting challenge but still allows players of all abilities to enjoy the natural challenges of the golf course.

Thousands of native trees lend character and beauty to the course design, including the iconic coastal Baobabs, the native Kenyan tree from which the golf course takes its name.

An abundance of wildlife roam freely across the golf course, with giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeast, oryx and gazelle often being seen by players during their rounds.

Supported by three putting greens and the largest driving range in Kenya, the PGA Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge is undoubtedly amongst the finest golf experiences available on the African continent.

  • Designed by former European Tour professional turned course architect, David Jones, the Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge is Africa's first and only PGA-accredited course.

  • As the only PGA course in Africa we have Advanced PGA Fellow David Marsh as the lead on golf operations at Vipingo Ridge.

Kenya’s number 1 golf course

The course at Vipingo Ridge is designed by former Kenya Open winner David Jones. From the iconic Clubhouse overlooking the 9th and 18th holes there is a system of connected lakes and streams running through the course.

Thousands of trees lend structure and beauty to the design, including the iconic coastal Baobabs, the native Kenyan tree from which the course takes its name.

Supported by three putting greens and the largest driving range in Kenya, the PGA Baobab Course is amongst the best courses in Africa.

Africa’s only PGA Course and PGA Academy

Professional Golfers Association (PGA UK) formed a partnership with Vipingo Ridge in 2016 to endorse the championship Baobab Course as East and Central Africa's only PGA-approved golfing facility.

As well as proudly representing the PGA in Africa Vipingo Ridge also acquired a PGA Golf Academy brand license.

This creates opportunities for talent to take up the game or even join the golf industry as pro shop staff, administrators, caddies and green keepers.

Wildlife on the Course

In 2020, Vipingo Ridge became a sanctuary for a number of different species as part of a program with Kenya Wildlife Services to win space for wildlife. Now oryx, water buck, giraffe and zebra wander the course and this feature truly elevates the game for all that play here.

Caddies with a Cause

Whilst it is not mandatory, we encourage players to hire a caddy when playing a round of golf on the Baobab Course.

Not only is it a real treat to have a caddy when playing a round of golf but Vipingo Ridge currently offers caddy training and work for street children and vulnerable young adults through a charity called Glad's House, supported by the European Tour.

By hiring a caddy at Vipingo Ridge, you are supporting this important initiative and helping to bring both opportunity and self-esteem to local youth groups.

Vipingo Ridge. The Driving range

The Driving Range

Situated opposite the Clubhouse, the driving range and practice facilities form part of the PGA-accredited Academy and offer the opportunity to work on your game.

The generous practice tee area with well-spaced target greens allows you to replicate just about any shot you may encounter on the course.

At almost 300 metres long, it is suitable for the longest of hitters and there is a short game and bunker practice area too.
